Q. How can this work by telephone?
A. As easily as it does face-to-face! The Sedona Method and Coaching just require verbal communication. I describe the places to tap when doing Thought Field Therapy. I also have a digital camera for use with MSN Messenger for people who have access to the internet and a telephone line at the same time.
Q. How could Self-Belief Coaching help my riding?
A. Your actions will always come into line with your beliefs. If you believe you can't do something, then you will stop yourself from achieving it. The same applies for what you feel you're no good at. With coaching, you can change your beliefs into ones that serve you and help you with your riding rather than ones that hold you back.
Q. What types of riding problems can your treatment help?
A. The main equestrian page lists the most common areas and include fear around any aspect of riding or horse handling. In addition, these treatments deal with stress and anxiety issues and help increase confidence levels.
Q. What problems can't be treated with your methods?
A. Your technical ability. I work with people to change the way they feel about problem areas. A riding instructor will teach the correct way to perform a particular technique of riding. However, your riding will improve naturally as you lose your fear or frustration and your confidence increases. If you're having lessons at the same time as working with me, your progress will definitely accelerate.
Q. What about non-riding problems, like being able to handle horses on the ground? Or how to develop a better relationship with the horse?
A. If you know how to handle your horse but are struggling because of a difficulty, removing the stress, fear, anxiety or frustration will help you overcome the problem. Removing negative emotions will always help you have a better relationship with your horse.
Q. Should I get my horse checked out before treatment (to make sure there are no physical problems or problems caused by badly fitting tack)?
A. If you suspect there is a physical problem, then you should always seek the professional opinion of a vet or specialist.
Q. How do I know the problem is me and not the horse?
A. You may be able to sense this. However, it's likely to become clear pretty quickly as you work with me and dissolve all the fears and negative emotions you have around riding. It certainly won't be wasted time.
Q. What if the problems come back?
This is very unusual. Because you're letting go of the problem rather than learning to manage it, there's nothing to come back. What normally happens is the rider tends to focus on the next problem! This is fine as we just keep working together until you're happy with your riding.
Q. Can you help me improve my riding?
A. Yes! This is because the work you will do with me will help you feel calm and relaxed which automatically enables you to be a more confident and effective rider. Read this article!
Q. Can you help me cope with the fear I have about riding?
A. No! But I can help you get rid of it. Why learn to cope with something when there's the more effective solution of releasing it?
Q. I haven't ridden for years. Could your treatment help me get back to riding?
A. Yes! Whatever your reason for stopping, if you are physically able to ride, I can help you dissolve whatever negative mental state is stopping you.
Q. I'm too scared to even go near a horse. How can you help me with that?
A. Fear is just a negative state of mind. The treatments I use gently dissolve fear, leaving you feeling calm and relaxed. You'll wonder what you were so afraid of!
Q. I had to have my horse put down and I can't get over the pain of it. How can you help me feel better?
A. Losing your horse can be a very painful experience as can losing anything dear to you. Whether it's a feeling of great sadness, guilt or pain, once these feelings are released, the good memories will come to the fore and you will start to feel happy for the time you had. This article may help clarify things for you.
Q. I can do a perfect dressage test in the school, but go to pieces during a competition. How can I get rid of my nerves?
A. Nerves are common in any competition. With a horse you've got the added bonus of another's state of mind! Dissolving negative memories of previous competitions, fears of not doing well and any other negative feeling lurking around will help you feel calm and confident enabling you to ride to your best ability.
Q. Can you accompany me to a competition?
A. Yes, although it's unlikely you'll need this level of support. Additional travelling and time expenses will be incurred.
Q. I can't canter on the left hand rein. How can I solve this?
A. It's your 'self-belief' that you can't, probably formed from past experience. Unless there is a physical reason why you can't, then you're experiencing a mental block and also communicating this to your horse too. Blocks like any negative emotion can be dissolved or released with the methods I use.
Q. My horse keeps refusing at jumps. What can I do?
A. Your mental state will play a key part in this. If when you're approaching the jump, you're expecting or anticipating a refusal, you'll probably get it. The methods I use dissolve negative feelings around past experiences and help set you up to expect a positive outcome. Both good and bad feelings are communicated to your horse which will also influence the result.
Q. How long is the treatment?
A. For something simple, it can be as little as just one session (an hour). For fear there is a set course of up to three hour's treatment, and for more complex problems you should consider an initial course of three sessions. Allow three months for Self-Belief Coaching at which point we review progress.
Q. What does treatment cost?
A. The Sedona Method and Thought Field Therapy cost £65/hour which is discounted to £150/3 hours when paid in advance. Self-Belief Coaching is £195/month. Full details are available on the Fees page.
