Thought Field Therapy

Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a gentle and unobtrusive treatment which eliminates a host of negative emotions including:

  • fears and phobias
  • stress
  • grief
  • guilt
  • anxiety and depression
  • obsession
  • jealousy
  • rejection and 'love pain'
  • disturbed sleep patterns
  • some physical pain

TFT is not a 'talk' therapy. Instead you just think about the problem and then gently tap a series of meridian points on your upper body - for example, your eyebrow and then your collarbone.

Gradually - or in some cases instantly - the emotion subsides until you're feeling calm and relaxed about whatever it is you're working on.

It really is as simple as that and most people feel great positive changes within the first session.

Generally a session starts with you talking about what you want to feel better about. You can give as much or as little detail as you want as the key to this process is the feeling or emotion, not the content.

I'll then ask you on a scale of 1-10 how you're feeling (1 = feel fine about it, 10 = it couldn't feel any worse). Say you feel at an 8. I'll then ask you to follow me (if we're working by telephone I will have sent you a picture showing the various points) as I tap a number of meridian points in a particular sequence, and then I'll ask you again how you're feeling.

You may feel a difference to one degree or another even at this early stage, as many do, or you may feel the same - either is fine. We keep repeating this process until you're feeling calm and relaxed about what was previously bothering you.

As emotions store themselves in layers, you may find that once you feel better about the original problem, the next issue surfaces. This quite often happens during a session and we continue using the Thought Field Therapy process to release each problem/negative feeling as it arises.

Many clients who have dealt with a phobia or fear are often keen to go and try it out, to check that the fear has really gone. Thought Field Therapy is such a gentle treatment you only need connect with the fear by thinking about it, and will only confront the problem when you choose to, usually when there's no fear left!
